Default wet bum

Hi, how do you avoid the dreaded wet bum after sitting on a boat seat in the rain for 2 hours with breathable waterproof trousers, 2 layer Gore-Tex and still a wet behind.

I had a debate about this on a previous thread and everyone told me that water could not go through Gortex just because you were sitting on a wet surface. I have had this happen to me as well, so your not alone.

Excuse the (what I'm sure will be a) silly question, but... is it possible that it's just a sweaty-wet bum instead of a wet-wet bum?

Default wet bum

Hi, it is a rain seeping through constantly wet and stretched breathables my friend gets the same problem. If you could stand in the rain with breathables there would be no problem it is the same as when haversac straps rub on shoulders. When you say oilskins do you mean Barbour wax trousers or synthetic rubberized none breathable trousers.
Regards Blithfield.

Sitting on a wheel barrow inner tube, or similar helps keep you away from standing water so a lot less contact with water which will seep through most so called breathable materials.

I also agree that the old oil skins (basically thick plastic materials) would be batter at keeping the water out, but boy do they make you sweat, so not an option for me.
