Default Kayaks for fishing ?

Seems to be a few articles poping up about Fly fishing from kayaks,it looks a good way for getting about a small/ medium lake. The rezzie I fish for pike has good marks scattererd all over it and not having a boat it means folding down the tackle and driving 2-miles to get to a spot maybe 1/2 mile along an impassable shoreline. This tackling down moving and sometimes taking off/putting on waders (depends on whose car) to find the pike can become a chore. The kayaks seem to be a fairly safe ,cost effective way of manouvering around a lake with enough storage area to allow tackle, camera lunch etc to be carried around wiyh a fair degree of comfort and making the move between marks a mile or so apart an easy task. All of the above could of course be wrong and kayaks might not be any good whatsover for fishing lakes so it would be great to hear from any of you that use them, also any pics of members yaks with recommendations on size, models & accessories might be of help to myself and any other interested members,

You need to have a look on anglersafloat pal! you'll get all the info and advice you need on there.

I did, I bought, I loved it! it's my intention to flyfish alot more from her this year after previously used it for Pike fishing in the lakes and jigging for cod and luring for Bass in the sea.

Ocean kayaks are worth a look, mines the prowler big game as I am a big unit! It can get expensive though when you start rigging with fishfinders and stuff!

I bought a perception angler last month. Very stable and goes like a bullet through the water. Kayaks may well take over from float tubes.

What about size,at the minute I would be interested in something for pike and maybe small lakes for browns but its the storage space at home is a problem ,would small say 10' mean less stable and un-safe bearing in mind I am a fat bstrd at 5'9'' and 15 stone. But the main reason for considering a 10' woud be the ease of transportation and storage if the stability factor was ok .

I'm 18st + (rght ft bstrd!) so I was a bit more restricted, but I would suggest you should look at the prowler range, others would say otherwise but they seem to be the benchmark but the standard is 13'. My breadknife has and I've seen others use the caper which is cracking and I have thought about a faster one myself but for the payload required I would need 15'.

You need to do your research for yourself and see if you can't get a paddle meet sometime. There is always something going on with the chaps on AA

Great price on the DJ, I wonder is there differences in the wall thickness used by different makers ?.
