Danny,
I am going to order one of these,
they look like great value, I am going to mount it on the side of the boat, or stick it to the rear buoyancy tank,
bearsden.com for $34

what do you think?

Im going to order 1 this weekend,
will let you know how good or bad they are!
I was thinking that the vibration of the boat motoring through the waves would dislodge them?

One of the cheapest options I have found so far.

if they dont work, I may have to go for your idea of using vac rac rod holders .

I've used one of these for a couple of years now and can recommend them.
Not a great picture but I think you get the gist. Outdoor Pursuits in Ballinrobe had them in stock last time I visited.

Trojon Rod Saver / Holder on eBay (end time 18-Feb-10 14:57:19 GMT)

Excuse photo quality. Had to take 'em quick before 'herself' caught me clamping stuff to her table!

I'll try and post a better shot of one later.
For those of you who don't know, this is one of Steve Parton's products. The ebay link is to his site. Perhaps Steve has some more photos?

Tops that, good application there for a float tube also, the bungy seems to do the trick I'd say

Looks really easy to put together and cheap as chips. Thanks for sharing.
