Default I got my new Boat

At last I purchased my new boat last Saturday.

Eventually I went for the "Deluxe" model of the Meagher 19ft Lake Boat. I almost went for the Burke Boat but in the end the thicker hull on the Meagher Boat tipped the balance. I think they are both great boats but I had to decide on one.

I went down to Tipperary last Saturday and met up with John Meagher himself. What a gentleman and we spent most of the time talking about fishing on the Corrib and such places. He represented Ireland in flyfishing a number of times. His wife treated us to tea and scones (with real butter).

He is doing some custom work on it for me during the week so it will be ready this weekend. I'm also getting a first class trailer off him as well. He promises to bring me out fishing with him as well - hopefully to learn a few tricks from him

I went to the Angling Exhibition on Sunday in Swords, Dublin and picked up a great bargain in a Minn Kota 40lb electric engine and a good size battery (85 Amp). I also picked up a Hummingbird fishfinder which clips onto the side of the boat with the transducer.

Bring on the fish

I hope you have many years happy fishing in your new boat. one thing are you sure that an 85amp battery will be big enough.I don't know much about boats and electric engines but for what it would cost extra for a 110amp would you not be better going for that.

Hi Alan,

The Minn Kota is only being used to help me to correct the position of the boat on a drift so I'm hoping that an 85 amp should last the day. Anyway the f*ck*ng thing is heavy enough as it is

Nice one Rayofhope, many happy a year with your new rig and I hope it is a lucky boat for you with plenty of large fish brought aboard!

Me and the Missus used to live in Greystones so have a pint down the Harbour Bar for us to celebrate - great town!

Cheers,

Brent.

Just like all our dreams, problem is the women don't quite like the idea though . My dream is to have a cottage and jetty alongside Currane. Ah well dream on. Enjoy the boat, I'm sure it's a cracker.
