Default Fins on a boat

Can anyone give me some advice on putting fins on the back of the
boat to give me better speed.

Angle, material, width etc. They seem to be great for getting the boat
up and plaining across the water.

I suppose some sheet metal etc??

Default fin

Its trial and error when putting on a fin
the best way to get it right is to copy some one elses with the same boat

True!

Ill just have to try a few different angles etc.I hate when a boat is being
dragged by an engine.
I dont think we get the most out of our engines on a lot of boats???

John, I think Davidsons in loughrea are doing them for €120. Might be worth a phone call.

That's right Sean but I think to have to attach it your self. I looked into it a wee bit back and asked Basil Shields how to go about doing it, he knew the measurements but I think they have to be spot on.

I would say they dont have to be at too much of an
angle back from the boat??
What are they made from Sean I wonder?

There's a picture on their wab site. It looks like fibre glass.

Hi Dooras,

I got my customized fins through Basil for @ a 100 euro.
Mounted them on the boat with industrial strength marine adhesive and attached to the skeg metal rim at the bottom of the transom with sealed screws.
