Default Float Tubing on Walkerwood

I've just checked Walkerwood's website and on the homepage it says Float Tubing will be allowed in 2010 with a £5 launch fee. As there's never been any boats allowed on Walkerwood, I can foresee a lot of big fish being caught this year, BIG Brownies too...

I'm so tempted to have ago...

Woz,

There will also be a Qualified GAIA instructor available as well, Me!!

More to come when I work out finances and sort out advertising on here and I will be pushing the fishery.

As for the float tubing, this is allowed from March and will be fun, especially if the wind is heading off the Dam wall and down the lake, lots of chances for a big drift down the middle

Chris

johns made a great fishery out of walkerwood ,float tubing is the way forward allthough its narrow near the top end, will there be a minimum distance from the banks to keep clear of & will it be enforced ,i forsee confrontation if the tubers get to close to the bank fishermen ,its a good idea i hope it works out ,cheers

The bottom end could lead to some disagreements, I wonder if there will be a limit put in place to keep everyone happy

Hi Chris and Pete,

A GAIA Instructor on site, sounds good to me, (just had a read of your blog, very nice) I might just have to book you for an hour or so on the 17th weather permitting of course, brush up on the casting. I've had a walk round today with the dog and it's absolutely solid mate. It's nearly 3 inches thick in places.
As for tubing on there I do agree with you both, it is the way forward, it will open so much more of the water up. As for the top end, surely there must be some restrictions put in place. I'm not knocking it at all, and when funds dictate it's something I would definitely like to try.
As either of you heard if there are any plans to open up more areas for the bank angler, It can be so restricting on the back cast especially away from the top end and very, very limited on the old pump house side.

for me ,walkerwood is the best small (not too small ) fishery in the country ,john has worked so hard to create a warm friendly fishery with all sizes of excellent quality fish ,ive had lots in the teens of pounds there, it needs casting areas opening up, a lot of new anglers are a bit daunted by the back casting near the trees ,ive heard john may be retireing ,if so i wish him all the best & i wish all the best to the new owners ,is it true pete ross is taking the reigns (get it pete ha ha pun intended ) all the best cheers, pete (catchy)

Totally agree with you Pete... I had heard that John was retiring, but I expect he'll still be there, wouldn't be the same without him. Maybe he'll wet a line if he's not tempted away by the Barbel. I also heard Pete was taking over. Would be good to offer some facilities on there in that old pump house too, but more importantly some more casting areas need opening up especially on the north bank.
