Unhappy New Battery. VRLA?

Hi,
following the hot battery thread i have a new issue, it's f****d. I actually had it 2 years, and it went through 2 cycles a week on average, so didn't do bad. So now i need a new one and have been looking at these batteries which allow more cycles. Called VRLA i think- don't know what it stands for. My first question is has anybody used one, and are they that really that much better? Secondly, they all seem to be sealed, which i'm not sure i like. I have a testing pipette and like to see exactly how charged the battery is. Is there any way of doing so with a sealed battey? Or are there non-sealed ones out there?Thirdly, does anyone sell leisure batteries, and how much do you want?
