Default Just getting better, shame no fish

As a break from my grayling days I went to Ravensthorpe with Cocktail Cabinet yesterday.
Launched the shakey into the wind in the bay/car park directly oposite the lodge, saving my launch fee with mebership of the float tube assoc, thats that expense balanced out for the year.
The big storms of the previous days had stirred up the water visibility poor and huge amonunts of drifting weed and of course leaves.
Fishing wise nothing bar a hesitant pull on deep nymph,an hour or more with the bung( yes I know) also zilch ,onto lures( yes the first time with lures for years)still nowt.Mick was fishing a fairly trad team of 3 and turned one fish to the dibbled top dropper.
The Pike anglers in their boats with plugs and big deadbaits seemed fishless as well.
No real matter to me ,just found that my distance covered and the relaxed style of fishing ,with some good company not too far away soothing and fun .
A fish would have made it a near perfect day.
It gets more fun every time I go,guess with winter coming in fast that will be it until the spring .

I had a 3lb rainbow tow me and my Fish Cat along for around 50 yards at Thornton in September. Bloody good fun. Nice tasting fish too!

There's no doubt a fish could pull you along, you just paddle a little more to counter that, I find a lively fish will spin you around more than pull you though. I've never had anything over 5lb in my tube though but I've seen some guys come in with lunkers at Stocks which apparently caused a caffuffle. Look up stocks fishing reports 2008 & 2009 on the BFTA forum.
