Is it better to add a hydrofoil to the outboard engine or the back of the boat ?And what are the plus and minus points of having a hydrofoil /fin in the first place ?

From personal preferance only Colin I would perfer the hydrofoil on the boat as opposed to the fin on the engine for the simple fact if you have to change engines. But this is all new to me as well.
I plan to put one on the other boat. It maks a big difference in a big wave really lifts the boat out of the water and makes for a more comfortable ride.

Make sure if you are going down that road you get your measurements perfect. You can buy them down Corrib way for I think 150 odd.

Hopefully some of the more seasoned boat men will help you out.
