Default Correcting bias to stern.

Hi,

Just a quick question, although I suspect there is no easy answer.

Whilst out drifting yesterday I was wondering if there was any quick way of correcting sternward bias to prevent the boat from crabbing slightly across the natural drift direction. If I had been using a drogue I could have shortened the rope to bow slightly to square myself up.....but a nice gentle breeze yesterday meant a good steady drift and the drogue stayed firmly where it belonged - in the bag.

I loaded my gear to bow to provide a bit more ballast, but this didn't seem to have any significant effect.

Any ideas?

Matt

Doesn't turning the boat round and fishing out of the other side of the boat work ?? Does for me when I find mine wants to go bow first .

That's a good idea - hadn't thought about that. Thanks.

If you have a Northampton Style Rudder - mount on the backside of the boat and adjust the angle to stop this altogether - foolproof but widely illegal - pity , I could have used the business !

Drop a 5 gallon water barrel in the bow to level the boat out,

When I'm on my own and the boat is crabbing.I have a small drogue made from the canopy of a standard umberella, which i fasten to bow or stern to suit the drift. this work quite well.
