Default Bty info

Ive been looking at batteries and ive been trying to work out the best battery for the job ie: powering an electric outboard

Does the the following specs matter to leisure batteries and what does it mean

The conventional leisure battery should give a cycling life of between 200 - 300 deep discharges. A Gel battery will give between 400 - 500 cycles and an AGM battery 600 - 800 cycles. The Elecsol batteries will give over 1000 deep discharge cycles

Not under marine use they won't! Try dividing those figures by somewhere between 2 and 10.

Only a deep cycle battery is designed to give power for a period with no interim recharge. Even then the deep cycle battery should be recharged as soon as possible.
Think of youy automotive battery in your car. You turn the key and power is drawn out of it, but the alternator kicks in immediately and recharges the drawdown within minutes. That is what they are designed to do.
An extended period of drawdown "kills" most battery types.
But marine deep cycle (leisure) batteries are different inside and can take longer between recharges without drastic lifespan reduction.
