Default Suggestions for boat rod

I am relocating to Cumbria mid March and hope to fish Ullswater etc and was looking for suggestions of reasonably priced boat rods.
I am expecting a 10' 6# say but which one and what's the best action
My experience is purely stream/ small river fishing till now.

Graham

I have a Fulling Mill Gold 10ft 6 wt and run a 7wt wf floater on it. Casts fine and does the job for boat fishing teams for trout or after grilse.

Fulling Mill GX-6104 #6 weight - 10ft ( Gold Series - 4 Piece Rods ) - Save 50%

Current fav boat rod is a 9ft 3wt which is more fun

I use a Greys G-Tec 10' 7# and a Vision Nite Catapult 10' 7#

The new Vision Nite Catapult that has recently been release is better than the old models (so I have been told)

Will get my hands on one next week to find out for myself.

I recently obtained a Drennan "Traditional Boat Rod". It is 11ft 6in and in trial casts lays a #7 line out very nicely. Ideal I think for picking off and laying back out. It was cheap...

You could try am Orvis Western 3 10ft #6 currently available for around £100 or a Snowbee Diamond 10ft #6. Both make excelent boat rods

Thanks for the suggestions.
I had a Drennan never used it and sold it maybe should have kept it but maybe heavy compared with more modern gear.
Fulling Mill, Western seem favourite at moment.
Do I need a soft action or a tip flex type ?

I would have a med /slow actioned rod every time for boat fishing "loch style"
My go to loch style rod is a 2 section 10ft 6" ultralight. I have a fast sage xp but just doesn't do the job as well.

You could see if there's still Hardy Marksman Drifters about. Think they were discontinued and going cheaper, if not exactly cheap.

If it is just for top layer "lough style" fishing teams on shortish lines and dibbling then something around 10' 6" - 11' 3" in a #6/7 that is not a poker will do you .

I use an 11' #7 Hardy Demon , 3/4 flies , 20 foot leader and it does the job nicely , roll cast well , picks up the line well and can easy chuck a longer line out if needs be

If you can stretch to it then as said above a Marksman Drifter 11' in #6 is a very nice tool and one I am shortly moving over to, keeping the demon as a spare .......
