Yes,Marksman drifter would be my first choice and if there is any left GAC had them @ £270/300. Bit more than I wanted to spend at present as the move has really cleaned me out.
Would the 11' be better than the 10' in a 6 # rod ?

Depends on what you want ,if like me a top dropper worker the longer the rod the better ,gets the top dropper working further away from the boat fo longer ,but it is hard work with the extra leverage .
For pullers of flies the 10 foot or even shorter will do the joib and be less tiring at the end of the day

Have to say I am a mainly floating line man for trout ,though that may change due to different influences and venues .

Really ?? I have periods where I use mine 6 hours a day , 7 days a week . I don't find it an issue as its only dibble and roll cast , short line stuff , could be an age thing ??

But yeah I agree it is more work on the arm than a shorter rod but I wouldn't call it hard work ...

Its an age and occupation thing ,these days I no longer rattle heavy copper pots and pans around ,so my wrist strength is not what it was ,however with modern carbons and decent technique not a worry for me either. Many of my friends who used to use the long rods have dropped down to the 10 footers ,but then most of those mates are like me getting on a bit !

look at the Aleka A3, they are half price at the min so you are getting a good buy.

those aleka rods look beautiful and the 9'6 7wt would be really useful for dries, lures and wets. seem to really well priced aswell.

Hello Graham

A little late maybe but Mick Bell (Bloke Fly Rods) offers some sweet loch style fly rods.

I fish from boats much of the time and have found The Original Enigma EMG 10ft 7wt to tick all the boxes for fishing a variety of standard reservoir style methods with a floating line.Very light with a nice action.

Best JP

I use an 11' #7 Hardy Demon , 3/4 flies , 20 foot leader and it does the job nicely , roll cast well , picks up the line well and can easy chuck a longer line out if needs be

If you can stretch to it then as said above a Marksman Drifter 11' in #6 is a very nice tool and one I am shortly moving over to, keeping the demon as a spare .......
Got agree with Danny I do my fair share of loch style a longer rod 10 foot 6 inch min hardy elite. or 11 foot 3 inch flextec are perfect. I should be on ulswater in the next couple of weeks myself...
