Hi,

I'm looking for a 15hp 2 stroke short shaft preferably Yamaha, Honda, Tohatsu, Johnson.
Does anybody know if any are for sale ? they are pretty rare but do turn up from time to time. Also in the South of Ireland would be best
Also Im monitoring apollo duck, done deal, ebay but if someone can think of another website to watch please point me in the right direction

Just curious, what kind of price do you see on a 15 HP 2 stroke when it does come available over there?

Generally, you can get a good 1970s vintage for $500, an 80s vintage would run you $750, and a 90s you'd be looking at $1000-$1200. The 15 HP isn't as common as the 10 or 20 HP, but it's by no means rare.

The 70 and 80s models Evinrudes and Johnsons are almost bulletproof. Parts are still widely available when needed, but they were well built motors to begin with. Generally, the most common "fault" is lack of use such that the carb becomes gummed up. The older OMC models are so well built I'd rate it highly likely that with proper maintenance, a 1970s model will outlive anyone who's using it today for recreational use.

To be honest, I wouldn't turn down a Mercury either. I just run all OMC gear to keep my fuel tanks and fittings all the same, but Merc built really good two strokers as well.

Going by what I have seen in the last few months a decent 15hp here is about 1,500e and a good one is 2,000e or more second hand. I got lucky as I found a very good Yamaha and paid less then expected for it.

I have seen the carb gumm up on a few, a danger during the winter months and something I have no intention of leaving happen to my Yamahas, I have an 8hp aswell.

Clean looking engine, though I think it was used in the sea going by the conversation.
