Take One Very Wrecked Boat(part 3)
Ok last time after lots of paint stripper and sweat I had got to this ......
I had done test patches of paint to see if it would be ok to go ahead and it was but first there was sanding to do , infact it turned out to be 3 whole days of sanding and it was breaking my heart , flat bed sander one day , next day a mouse sander and day 3 I went over all the dimples by hand that the sanders would not touch to atleast make sure they were scratched

but in the end I got to this .......
Before I could paint though I needed to put some wooden battens on the back tank and glass it over ready for when I put the back seat on . I was waiting for a kind fella to give me the fibre glass and resin I needed , while I waited on that I rough cut and offered up the transom so that was one less thing I will have to do , it still has to have a wee trim here and there and be sanded and routed ....
Ok I got the stuff I needed for the battens so glue screw and seal all round them , they are fixed to the existing wood that is on the inside of the tank . Make sure any edges of wood you are going to lay the glass over are rounded off ......
Now fibreglass and resin over them , looks thin as I took pictures while it was still wet , believe me there is plenty on there for this wee job ....
One more thing to do before painting and that is brush down as much dust as you can then get this stuff and and plenty of old rags and clean down twice , It took the whole 500 ml so you will need plenty of it !! .....
Next take paints and mix as instructed .....
Then paint

I was going to have the final colour as white on the inside but decided it would be way to bright on the eyes so white on first ......
Then grey as the top coat .......
I have another coat of grey to put on tomorrow then I need to give the boat time to cure before I add the timber , I am away for a weeks fishing as of the 30th so work will not begin again until I am home so watch this space after that .....
Cheers
PS: in case anyone is wondering the outside of the hull is to be done once I have the new timber on as I can then flip the boat , the outside of the top board will be primed though before adding the gunwales and then the edge will be feathered in once I paint the outside ....
Cheers again .....
