Default Ray, a question or two if I may.

Are the 'holders' you're looking for, for transit from place A-B in/on your auto, in a boat, or on a wall at home? Or some combo of the above?

€50 was the total but well worth it considering the price of a new rod

Then the fellows comment/link is right on. These things are simple as you can get, but they do the job (perm-mount). Only down side (perhaps) is if these are exposed to the 'elements' 24/7/365 the rubber will stiffen up.

Another option is to hit both Cabala's and Pro Bass web sites and see what they have in the way of Bass Rod boat holder offerings. "Bass'in Buddies" carry rods (numbers) that just make my eyes roll.

Don't even think about looking at reels; they can be as expensive (a bloody spinning reel no less) as a high-end fly reel. Go figure?

Have you tried these? I've used them for years and never had any problems.

There is plenty of information and suggestions here about making your own fishing rod rests:
How to make your own rod rests for float tubes, boats, etc

Hope it helps.
