Default Outboard Maintenance

Im going to give my outboard a wee service before the season starts. Its a 5hp Yahama 2 stroke, 1997. I've had it a couple of years now and changed the gear oil when I got it.
I removed the in line fuel filter and gave it a good cleaning, so i think it should be ok to reuse, I removed spark plug and am going to replace it with a new one, I will also change the gear oil again.

Just wondering if theres anything else I should do? cheers

I use honda 4-strokes these days, but have had several 2-strokes in the past. The treatment you're planning to give yours seems fine, but to add to that, I would be inclined to chuck out any old fuel from the tank, and swill it out with a bit of fresh, before re-filling. Also, it's always worth getting a bit of grease (marine grade for preference) on to anything which moves; any linkages, steering swivels, etc.
