Default Might have a go in a float this year.. venues

I think I might have a go in a tube this year....Its one of those area's you have got to invest a fair bit of cash to play.

Tube
5mm Neoprene's
life jacket
fins
etc.

I live in St Helens wa11 so may be limited on venues, I know stocks has a float tube open each year.......
If anyones local and could and suggest venues before I start spending my cash it would be useful.

I only want to travel 70 minutes from home max..

I can see Scratch and North country angler playing pirates if they see me on stocks......

Hi graylinghunter...

My local water Walkerwood in Stalybridge has allowed float tubes and boats for the first time in March of this year and is only 30/40 minutes away from you.

Check out th British float tube association website, there's plenty of info on there, but the forum doesn't get a dreat deal of use. There's an annual meeting on Stocks, usually in April, which is about as far north as they come these days.

If your not in a real hurry to buy all the kit and would like to try before you take the plunge and buy, I could meet you at somewhere like Stocks and you can take my tube for a day. All you would have to bring is chest waders, which don't have to be neoprene, I'd say I've seen more tubers in breathables than neoprenes.

Drop me a PM if you're interested in a test drive,

Matty

Matty
Thats kind of you M8 I will take you up on that when things warm up a little....

I am not in no rush to buy... I have two sets of gortex waders...so its good news i don't have to buy a 3rd pair of waders.....
looking at snowbee tube or guideline as I can buy new for less than £200..... but I think having an hour or two to try tubing first is a must.

Hi fella, I'm pretty sure Pete the owner at Walkerwood as a tube that you could borrow for a few hours to get a taste. Heres a link to the official site http://www.walkerwood.free-online.co.uk/ you'll find his telephone number on there, give him a quick bell, mention my name 'Woz' and I'm sure he'll accommodate you.

A little further away from you but well worth the trip would be Tal Y Llyn in Mid Wales. Everything you need is available to hire. Drop Robroy a PM - he will give you all the info you need.

Mate you will love tubing...................

Best advice move to Scotland and tube wilds Lochs for wild Browns theres enough water for a Loch each , even on a bank holiday weekend i often have a whole loch to myself , i kid you not ! Couldnt believe it when i first moved up

It hard to find places that "dont" allow tubing up here ............
