Default Lomond launch sites.

Hi folks, wondering if anyone could comment on the launch facilities at Millarochy bay? I have an Orkney longliner 16 and have launched from Balloch in the past but it's a fair trek up the Loch to thrash the islands. I know there is a slip at Millarochy and possibly another at the caravan site nearby but I have been reading that they are quite shallow and perhaps not the best for a heavy boat?

Thanks.

The only made up slip at Millarochy bay is the one at the camp site. You'd need to book in to use it.

The public launching site is from a gravel beach and you have to get the trailer quite a bit into the water in order to float the boat but it's not unlike many of the other unmade lauching sites on many of the other big Loch's. You need to watch out if an onshore wind get's up as you can get quite a heavy swell which makes things tricky.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Don it does indeed help. I'll go give it a look at some point but will stick to Balloch for now.

Thanks

Jim
