Everyone fishes for different reasons. For this angler, the venue is as important as the fish that I endeavour to catch. We all carry images in our heads of our own fishing heaven, the one place in the world where if we could only fish one venue for the rest of our lives then this would be it.

Reflections on a favourite water.....

I know a place where time stands still. Like everything around us, it changes with the ongoing march of the seasons each year, yet in most ways it remains constant. The lake in question is a relatively new acquaintance, after an initial introduction we spent most of last year getting to know each other. I realise that it has become one of my favourite waters....

It’s a widely held belief that as we become more wrapped up in the pressures of everyday life, we are becoming increasingly out of touch with natural world around us. We are fortunate in Northumberland, that many of our rivers and streams offer safe havens for our indigenous flora and fauna.
