I didn't watch the programme but I'm prepared to bet that the word "exactly" cropped up in the script from time to time. John Bailey so nearly gets it right but he is a little bit false in his commentary, fawns over other anglers and is sometimes economical with the truth in pursuit of a good programme.

I like Hywel Morgan but Paul Young remains my favourite presenter with generally well constructed programmes.

I also have a lot of time for Matt Hayes, he may not be the world's best fly angler and he is a bit annoying at times but there are very few better all round anglers on TV. I also like the Irish guy, Darryl Grimason for his totally infectious enthusiasm in the Coast to Coast series.

The best angler on DVD or TV is probably Martin Bowler who apparently can't sell his brilliant series "Catching the Impossible" to the TV channels.

There is a blackbird on every thorn and a cock chaffinch, a twink as they call him there, on every bush...... It moved me profoundly. I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
