Yes, it works a treat. All you do is tackle up your float gear (I use a small slider). Tie a wire trace with a snap link on the end. Then using a suitably sized jig hook, 2/0 to 4/0 is about right for a small deadbait, ease the eye under the skin of the deadbait from just behind the head to exit behind the doral. The exact positions can vary, depending on what attitude that you want the bait to hang at. All you do is clip on the trace and away you go. This idea does not like long casts but a little under-arm lob will get you plenty of distance. I've had loads of pike like this, never missed a run, never had a problem un-hooking.........yet..........give it a go..........birdsnest
