I think I know where you are coming from Midlander.....Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think Stan designed the Octopus to deal with daphnia feeders.....so I'm not sure why he chose a curved shank hook with this in mind....? for my tastes I prefer the look of it tied on a normal wet-fly hook....i.e not dressed around the bend....just a personal preference thing and not meant as a criticism.
